850487- Halloween Accessory Set

In opposition to what it may say in many ebay ads, this set is not related to the Monster Fighters theme.  It's formally named a Halloween set, but on the lego shop site it is under the Collectible Minigifures theme.  Lego created a few of these "combi-packs" with figures in a related theme (Rock Band, Beach) from different CM series', along with some items and little constructions to bring it all together.

The figures in this set are meant to be a collection of Zombie from Series 1, Witch from Series 2, and a ghost from no series.  We also get a tombstone construction, plants, accessories for each of the figures, and six animals.

This zombie closely resembles the one in Series 2 of the Collectible Minifigures.  His grey face print varies only in a few small line marks than the 2010 figure and the pattern on his entire ripped suit is exactly the same, although this figure has a brown one with grey tie while the CM dons a grey suit with brown tie.  An improvement in my opinion.  His accessories go along with him being a businessman zombie as he comes with a briefcase and a walkie talkie radio, which we could pretend was a way to contact his friends before he got bit and turned into a zombie oooor is in fact an 80s cell phone.  His briefcase seems to have just broken on me so that when I open it, it becomes two separate parts but I can't say that's because I got a poor quality one in my pack.  This zombie happily bears little resemblance to my actual Monster Fighters one from 40076- Zombie Car, but they can cruise around together and pick one another's brains.

Nearly identical to the witch from CM Series 2, our witch comes with obligatory black pointy hat, brown broom, and detail on her mostly black dress.  The green belt compliments her green face (complete with dark green lipstick) and attached to a chain on her waist are a vial of purple potion and a small book labelled "spells" with a frog on the cover.

Our third and last figure in the pack is a ghost that doesn't seem to be apart of any CM series thus far.  Ghost comes with some light grey chains and is glow in the dark with an unhappy expression.  I don't like the chains as it gives the ghost a Dickens feel, but I can't think of any other ghost specific accessory it could have.  Underneath the glow in the dark covering which covers the head and the entirety of the body, Ghost is composed of a white torso, black head, and a white 1x2 brick and white 1x2 plate that make up his leg portion.  I'm a fan of the use of glow in the dark elements and I believe this is my first ghost, so I'm happy with the one in this little set.

The main construction in this set is an elaborate dark grey tombstone and grave surroundings.  Marking the stone, there is a flat unique 1x2 tile printed with a (Lego) bat and the letters "Rip" can be made out.  A bat tops the construction on a special stud while a frog sits below on a dark green portion of the base construction.  To make the whole area seem neglected and eerie are two dark green vines that fit into appropriate studs.

Adding to the whole scary grave yard look, there is a separate small dark green plant construction made of one of the vines seen above, three plants usually seen in underwater or marshy sets, and a piece generally used as leaf covering for a large branch.  Very simple, but effective.

In addition to the bat and frog seen around the grave, we get a light grey rat, a black spider, and two different coloured snakes.  I'm very happy that one of the snakes is red as I've never had one before, but it is a strangely bright choice for an otherwise dark set.
