The Friends subtheme of animals now consists of 12 little habitat sets, with 6 more planned. Oddly, this is the second time a turtle has been done, the other being set 41019- Turtle's Little Oasis from just last year in 2013. I'm happy that they have made a second turtle as I'm fond of them, and all can go in my Summer Display.
Unlike the other turtle set and others in early Animal Series', this turtle home has a natural appearance and is a dollar cheaper, which are both welcome changes.
In this set, we get a purple Lego turtle, a habitat with water, tree, and flower elements, and a separate small fruit plant construction.
As all Friends characters do, this turtle comes with a hole in its head for a bow. The supplied one is yellow, which I'll gladly never use on Turtle. It is the same mold as last years turtle, but the detailed shell printing is different. This years turtle is lavender, (more girly color?) while the other is green.
Here we have Lego Kane on the side of the set to show the scale of it. The front of the "paradise" features a small waterfall and pond, a tree construction, a plant, and three small pink flowers around the whole area. There are special one stud plates at the top of the structure for the turtle to sit on, although given enough room the turtle can snap into any stud. The separate cherry plant is strange to me and seems to just be making up the piece count, especially since I didn't know turtles ate cherries, or that they grew out of tropical low-laying plants. Overall, the little set is wonderfully developed, refreshingly different than the other turtle set, and a happy addition to my collection.
Just a small amount of extras here as it is a tiny set. As always, we get an extra bow and I'm happy to have any extra Lego cherries.
