I was excited to see this set, as I'm a fan of martial arts and the set seemed to have a lot of nice elements. As with all Friends sets, there are lots of pastel bricks and the scale doesn't quite fit normal Lego minifigures and I will always complain about both, but it's still a decent set overall. See below for back of box image.
This is my second set with Emma, the other being 3936- Emma's Fashion Design Studio from 2012. However, since I don't like the Friends mini-dolls, both of my Emma's remain mostly packaged and put away. Hence no picture of her. I do know that she is wearing a white karate outfit, with cropped pants, and what appears to be a black belt and a light purple flower printed on her torso. The lavender bow she comes with matches the printed flower.
The set comes with four different sections: trophy/accessory area, section with a Japanese screen, bonsai tree, and chopping block. The trophy area is a nicely put together hinged section with a sword, gold metal, gold trophy, lavender basket, and sparring helmet. I like that the metal and trophy are set up as a proper display, clear "glass" pieces on either side and black bricks underneath. The sparring helmet fits a normal Lego minifigure, so I'm not sure if it fits the Friends kind, but I imagine so. Our lavender basket is made of a more flexible plastic and has two holes on the bottom for connecting to other pieces I think the use of yellowish orange and aqua coloured bricks seems a bit odd as the rest of the set uses pinks and purples and reds, but Lego seems keen on throwing all kinds of odd colours in these sets.
The section with the Japanese-style screen seems kind of pointless, but the printed screen is very nice and my favorite part of this set. It has black lettering with some gold and red detail. There's even a small printed signature stamp, which I thought was a nice detail. The whole area is made up of mostly pink, purple, and reddish violet bricks, so while girly, at least it matches. This section also has a model water bottle, which while a nice detail, is too large for normal figures, but can be scaled down by removing the translucent blue studs.
I think the tree is really cute and I'm very happy they didn't use any Friends coloured bricks there, so the effect is a very sleek looking tree. The chopping block is indeed functional, but much too tall for Lego minifigures, but it was easy enough to remove some pieces for a better scale. The picture to the left is the instruction built chopping block.
Here's Lego Kane with her custom, more to scale chopping block.
Notable pieces in the extras are a bow, gold metal, and sword.
