71001- Minifigures Series 10

Series 10 of the Collectible Minifigures was pretty special because a set number of packets contained the rare Mr. Gold.  Not made out of gold, just a very rare shiny gold coloured man.  I remember seeing him on auction on ebay for upwards of $300.  Fairly crazy, but if you are a collector, then you had little choice but to try and get one of the 5000 produced. I didn't care about getting him (looked a bit dull to me anyway), but instead wound up with 10 figures from series 10.

Medusa (2)- There was a short list of figures I intended on getting, and Medusa was on it.  Her detail and colouring make her a very beautiful monster.  She's got a double sided head, with one side showing orange glaring eyes and open mouth with fanged teeth, and the other side with soft green eyes and a closed mouth (looking kind of sad).  Her hairpiece is all made up of snakes and has a slight rubber give to it.  All the snakes have little heads and eye holes and make for a wonderful molded messy pile of snakes for hair.  Her bottom tail piece is a lot longer than I would have expected, and I'm glad Lego didn't just go for a mermaid-type bottom.  We also get some scale print on her tail piece.  Medusa's torso is decorated with some scales and small snake detail.  Overall, she's brilliant and has already turned one of my soldiers to stone.

Roman Commander (3)- This guy has a really nice facial expression, with barred teeth and wary solider stubble.  He comes with a sword, an elaborate helmet, and a cape.  At this point, he's just another soldier to me, but he has nice dark grey/maroon/gold detail on his torso and legs.  Nothing for a back print, but that's covered by cape anyway.  I am fond of the print on his feet to indicate sandals.  See below for helmet detail.

Warrior Woman (4)-  Is this really her name?  Comes with nice stabby spear and gold bird printed round shield.  I don't think we get many angry looking female prints in the Lego Universe, so it's good to see one here- without red lipstick.  Her yellow body and dark brown hair really suit her gold and brown uniform and I think it really brings out the gold.  Good print on her, but I wonder if she was meant to come from anywhere in particular.

Tomahawk Warrior (5)- This guy is the only one I really wanted from the series.  I would have purchased a whole army of him if I could have.  The Lego Indian sets in the 90s were may favorite and I'll gladly purchase any new ones Lego makes (even recently bought a Lone Ranger set because of the Native American-ness).  This beautiful figure comes with a mohawk (!) and a rubbery feeling tomahawk/axe.  I definitely thought about buying some stand alone mohawk pieces as Lego Kane looks pretty awesome with it on.  The print on him is amazing, most notably on his arms, which you can see pictures of below.  One of his arm prints looks like a Chicago flag, so that endeared Mr. Warrior even more to me.

Bumblebee Girl (7)-  Another one on my short list because of a personal significance Lego bees have.  She also now happily buzzes around my Spring and Summer seasonal displays.  Her print is perfectly bee-like and she has a cute smile and a pink circle on each cheek.  She comes with clear fairy wings, a rubbery bee-hat, and a pot with honey and bee-print.

Paintball Player (9)- Another "meh" one to me, but I somehow wound up with him.  Comes with a nice helmet (with a little bit of paint splatter), and paintball gun.  His suit print is pretty nice, very zippery and lots of little green paint splatters.  On his back there is even a little bit of print along with an orange paint splatter.  Friendly fire, perhaps.  I like his helmet, which is good because I really don't like his evil grin face print, which you can see in a picture below.

Sad Clown (11)- Sad, indeed- he isn't even a double-sided head figure with a happier side.  He's all black and white, with an interesting printed hat and a black ruffle, like the white one in Series 8's Actor.

Revolutionary Soldier (12)- Comes with standard old fashioned brown rifle, though perhaps I'm meant to call it a musket.  Serious looking guy, with an even more serious wig.  Nice detail on the wig- is even has a blue bow print on the back which matches his coat.  He seems accurate and will fit in nicely with a couple of my seasonal displays.

Baseball Fielder (13)- Finally, we have a mate for Series 3's Baseball Player.  Our man plays for the Stackers and wears a mostly light grey uniform with blue sleeves and trim.  He has great baseball cap with detail and a brown baseball glove in lieu of one of his hands which can rotate to catch eith fly balls or grounders.  Yes, you can easily pop this glove out and put it on any other figure you may like, just be kind and give our Fielder a second hand of his own.

Motorcycle Mechanic (16)- This tough guy comes with a red pirate era bandanna and a black spanner/wrench.  His facial print is especially unique with silver sunglasses, stubble, and a huge puffy mustache.  His body print is equally unique and interesting with a ripped denim jacket and black pants with a chain and oily rag.  His left arm sports a full arm length red flame tattoo.  His belt buckle is a silver skull and ...spanner (not bone), which matches his detailed torso back print.  The skull on the back of his jacket is even wearing shades as well.
