This was a free polybag with qualifying Lego purchases during July 2013 and I'm fairly certain I made sure my virtual cart was full enough to qualify for this set. Some of the "free with purchase" sets are truly amazing and this is my favorite one so far with two minifigures (male and female), a hot dog cart, and a bicycle.
Both the figures happily have interesting outfits. The male has a double-sided head (see below for alternate image) one side smirking and the other side with a "oh no, the hot dogs are burning!" expression. I adore his goatee and it goes along with his bushy eyebrows. His hair colour is a light brown, almost ginger which is a great change from the all too common dark brown. He's wearing a cute little chefs tunic with red kerchief or loosened tie to match his red trousers. The female has a basic female content red lipsticked grin and long dark brown braided hair. She's wearing light grey trousers and a lovely light blue blouse with detail including a seashell necklace.
Our hot dog stand/cart is the main feature of this set and it doesn't disappoint. It's wheeled and has a place to attach your hand, so it can be mobile (which is why I call it a cart). The handle is near Lego shoulder level and the grill is eye level, so the scale isn't perfect.
The left side of the cart has a place for hot dogs that are awaiting customers to rest. This section is hinged and opens to reveal a tiny compartment for theoretically storing extra hot dogs and such. Next we have a cute condiment section with ketchup (ick) and mustard (yay) containers. To the right of that is the grill which holds one hot dog in place at a time and is hinged for easy dog removal. I think the build for the grill is really interesting and is a fantastic, sleek use of few pieces. Finally, at the right end of the cart is a handle and a simple yellow-orange shade umbrella, the colour use of which compliments the mustard bottle.
Can't forget the accessory our lady comes rolling in on- the turquoise bike. I'm a huge fan of Lego bikes and the colour on this one is fairly rare. Sweet deal for a free set. One thing about the bike though is that I remember being able to take off the rubber tire part from the clear wheel and on this one it's all molded together. Just another small change Lego has made over the years.
Interestingly, this set came with no spare parts at all. Bummer as two hot dogs in the set would have usually meant an additional one in the spares. Maybe Frodo can lend us a hand there.
