This is my very first Holiday set. With this order, I purchased a couple Christmas ones, but I've decided to hold off on opening those until mid-December. I don't really like calling these "sets", as to me, that implies that the scale fits in with the rest of the Lego Universe. Micro, Architecture, and Mini sets are at their own varying but micro scale, which most collectors or hobbyists can imagine easily, so I think I'll settle on calling these Holiday sets "models".
I've looked at some of the past Holiday models and it makes me very excited to see what will be returning and what will be new in 2013. These models make great desk toys and you can stick them anywhere around the house for a little festive look. Every one I've seen is $4.99, which means they make great "just because" gifts.
I like this Turkey so much that I think I may order another one. He's just fine by himself, but it feels like he and a friend could stand on either side of a central object for a more complete look. I hope that in the future, The Lego Group comes up with more than Turkeys for Thanksgiving. Some pilgrims or a horn of plenty would look nice.
Mr. Turkey comes in a polybag, as shown. As you can also see, he is about the size of two Lego minifigures. My Lego self couldn't help but take him for a ride. His body is mostly brown, with black wings and small black pieces around the edge of his body. The tops of his tail feathers, the connectors for the wings, and his eye bricks are white (a nice change from grey brick eyes a couple years ago). His beak and legs are yellow, and he has a lovely red gobble. His head is topped off with grey plates, which I think should be brown or some other colour. His wings do move so he can try and get away from all the mean Americans. A lot of slanted bricks are used, making him a realistic and sleek little model. Even though his only support are his turkey legs, he is very stable and won't fall over with an accidental nudge.
