3177- Small Car

Front of the box
I love this little car.  The blue and white versions of this Smart Car come with set 7939 Cargo Train, but I wish they came in other sets as well.  The car is just so sleek, adorable, and functional.  It can easily be going anywhere around town.

I'm a very evil-looking figure!
This set comes with one minifigure and I don't like him at all.  At least he comes with a Lego suitcase (I adore Lego suitcases).  I'd like to point out that the green legs in the pictures are not the ones that come with the set.  I had to use a brighter green coloured pants as I don't really know where the originals got to.  Probably in the wash.  Anyway, I do not like the face on this minifigure.  I'm not a fan of smirks and that combined with his eyebrows make him look a little evil to me.  Ne'er-do-wells have almost no role in my Lego Universe.  His hoodied torso is alright.  I don't like the little bit of green shirt that shows underneath it, though.  The torso just does not look like it belongs to a guy carrying a briefcase and driving this kind of car.  I do not like the green legs, but I'm not much of a fan of coloured legs unless it's apart of a uniform the figure is wearing.  The Lego Group could have assembled a much more suited figure for this set.  I disliked this figure so much that I took him apart, used his torso elsewhere, and modified another figure to go with this car.  The owner of my Small Car is now the Computer Programmer from Series 8, sans coffee mug and laptop and with a different hair piece.  That awesome nerd is very deserving of this awesome car.

I like the black & white look of the vehicle.  It has four small, smooth (what I call) racing tires that allow it to drive like a dream.  On the front, there are two clear lights and a small grill.  In the back, there is a small red reflector/light underneath the top of the roof.  This little car has two car doors, which I am very happy about since I think they should be used on nearly all Lego vehicles, but usually are not.  There is a steering wheel on the inside, and some cargo space in the back.  That area will perfectly fit the suitcase with room for another one.  The roof snaps on and off very nicely, as it's one piece   The one and only problem with the car is that it's a little difficult to snap the roof on the car if the figure inside has hair.  To fit such a figure in properly, you have to raise his arms above the steering wheel and press his torso forward.  It's not that big of a deal, but might be tricky for a youngster.

Back of the box
An interesting thing about this car is that the car is not just black and white pieces.  There are a few coloured ones that aren't really seen but perfectly match the figure that came with it.  The steering wheel base is blue like part of the figure's hoodie.  There are two small green pieces used as well, corresponding to the green on the figure's pants.  Luckily, these coloured bricks aren't seen unless you really inspect the inside of the car or turn the car upside-down.
