I never liked any of the Batman sets enough to purchase, but I was happy to buy this book since I'm always interested in pictures of cute sets and love the Batman minifigure that came with it. As typical in the DK Lego licensed-theme books, the front cover is a thick cardboard containing an exclusive minifigure. So, the book may seem twice as long as they actually are, but all the DK Lego books I've gotten have never disappointed.
Electro Suit Batman, the exclusive minifigure, is one of the special suits in the 2012 Lego Batman 2 game. I think Batman belongs in black and this suit is pretty sleek. He has a double sided head, which you can see in the pictures below. I found it interesting that the white print for his eyes kind of resembles a white headband if you take off his bat hat (see below).
The book itself is 96 pages and features small pictures on the bottom corners of the pages that form a sort of two panel flip book. The book first pictures all the sets in year order (forgive my poor pictures) and then in-detail separate pages on the various vehicles, villains, and locations. The last fifteen or so pages talk and show the various aspects of the two Batman games.
More than just picture certain sets, the pictures have arrows and little blurbs describing some of the fun Lego features within the set that you may not notice on first glance or without having the set. For example, on the page talking about The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape, we learn about trick floor plates, a rope mechanism that lowers a trapped hero into Joker Venom, and Riddler themed trivia box. Likewise, on the page shown on the right, we learn what the special features of the villain vehicles are.
The book also has a couple pages of comics with the appropriate Lego humour. There are a few pages talking with the designers of some of the Batman sets and a people at TT games so we can see what kind of work goes into the physical and virtual worlds of Lego Batman.
With the nicely designed exclusive figure and dozens of pages of highly detailed sets, this books gives a lovely overall presentation of the Lego Batman world without all the money and space that goes into purchasing sets.
